Join Our Local Governing Board as an LGB Chair – Make a Difference in Your Community

We are seeking a passionate and committed Community Governor to join as the Chair for the  Local Governing Board of our Academy Trust. This role will be the Chair of the LGB for Wreay C of E Primary School. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of our school and supporting the success and wellbeing of our pupils.

About the role

The LGB Members of each setting will appoint a Chairperson from among their number to serve for a term of two years but will be eligible for nomination for re-election for another 2 year term serving as Chairperson for a maximum of 4 years. The appointment is subject to an annual review. 

Chairperson Role and Responsibilities

The Chairperson will: 

  • Convene and chair meetings of the LGB and general meetings and ensure that the business of those meetings is conducted efficiently and effectively.  
  • Consult with the Headteacher and Clerk on the preparation of agendas and supporting papers to be presented to meetings of the LGB. 
  • Represent the Good Shepherd Trust at meetings with key stakeholders. 
  • Act on behalf of the LGB and to consult with other officers and senior employees of the Trust in so doing. To report any such acts to the LGB promptly. 
We’re looking for individuals who:
  • Are enthusiastic about education and community development.
  • Can bring fresh perspectives and sound judgement.
  • Are willing to ask questions, share ideas, and contribute to team decisions.
  • Have a few hours a month to attend meetings and engage in academy life.

Leadership & Management ,Finance ,Governance, Health & Safety ,HR including Recruitment, Curriculum, Planning ,Student & Family Support, Pedagogy, Special Needs , Assessment , Project Management ,Procurement, Media/communications , Fundraising , Legal , IT or Research & Evaluation
