Join Our Local Governing Board as an LGB Chair – Make a Difference in Your Community
We are seeking a passionate and committed Community Governor to join as the Chair for the Local Governing Board of our Academy Trust. This role will be the Chair of the LGB for Wreay C of E Primary School. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of our school and supporting the success and wellbeing of our pupils.
About the role
The LGB Members of each setting will appoint a Chairperson from among their number to serve for a term of two years but will be eligible for nomination for re-election for another 2 year term serving as Chairperson for a maximum of 4 years. The appointment is subject to an annual review.
Chairperson Role and Responsibilities
The Chairperson will:
- Convene and chair meetings of the LGB and general meetings and ensure that the business of those meetings is conducted efficiently and effectively.
- Consult with the Headteacher and Clerk on the preparation of agendas and supporting papers to be presented to meetings of the LGB.
- Represent the Good Shepherd Trust at meetings with key stakeholders.
- Act on behalf of the LGB and to consult with other officers and senior employees of the Trust in so doing. To report any such acts to the LGB promptly.

- Can bring fresh perspectives and sound judgement.
- Are willing to ask questions, share ideas, and contribute to team decisions.
- Have a few hours a month to attend meetings and engage in academy life.
